Halloween And The Ouija – How To Stray Spiritually Safe

Halloween is synonyms with spooky tales and stories about things that go bump in the night. October 31st is the time when ghosts, spirits and other unworldly beings supposedly get up to mischief.

Whilst many people delight in spooky and scary stuff connecting with the spirit of the departed is no laughing matter. For most people Halloween is about dressing up and harmless trick-or-treating. For others this time is about playing with tools that supposedly open up the portal between the living and dead worlds.

What Is The Ouija?

The Ouija is a board game that originates from the 19th century and became popular with people who had a fascination with spiritualism. The game consists of a flat board that is decorated with the letters of the alphabet, numbers 0-9 and the words ‘Yes’ and ‘No’. There is also a device, known as a planchette, which is used to read the letter or number selected.

The Ouija is played by two or more people. Each person puts their finger on the planchette and a question is asked. Spirits supposedly guide the plancette over the board and spell out the answer. Simple ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ responses are also given.

How It Works

When you play the Ouija two factors are at play: your subconscious need for an answer, and a phenomenon that is known as the ideomotor effect. The ideomotor effect states that we can all move objects without realizing that our conscious mind realizes this. In other words, if you and your playmates really want the answer to be ‘No’ the planchette will be pushed towards this response without any applied force. In effect you are moving the planchette with your thoughts.

The Ouija is shrouded in mystery, which adds to the game’s appeal. The use of the ‘talking’ board is often depicted in scary Horror movies and strikes equal measures of fear and wonder in people. In the 19th century the board game was proven to work and was issued a patent. Today, many psychologists confirm that there is a link between the known and unknown, and fans of the Ouija like to think they have discovered the portal.

Spiritual Considerations

Many practicing mediums and clairvoyants believe that connecting with, and channelling spirits, particularly during Halloween, should be done with great caution. Whilst a board game may appear harmless, there are many mediums who believe that playing the Quija inadvertently opens a portal with the other realms. Stories of possession and spiritual attachments are not uncommon. Whilst there is no evidence that you are indeed connecting with a spirit, whilst playing the Ouija, you may in actual fact be channelling the darker depths of unconsciousness, which for some people is even scarier.

How To Set Up Spiritual Protection

To protect against negative occult energies it is recommended that you set up a field of protection, particularly when playing with the Quija. This is done by grounding – visualising roots from your feet to the core of the earth – and igniting a violet flame beneath your feet, all the way up and over your entire body. The violet light turns negative energy into positive.
